    1. positive: adj.
    a. effective ,helpful 积极的,有建设性的,有效果的
    e. g. Don’t just watch me; give me some positive advice
    Positive suggestion will be welcomed.
    b. definite ,allowing no room for doubt 肯定无疑的,确切的,明确的
    e. g. We have positive knowledge that the earth moves around the sun.
    There is positive proof that he did it.
    c. sure, having no doubt about sth. <做表语》肯定,有把握
    e. g. She was positive that she had seen him.
    Are you positive that it was after midnight?

    active: adj. Working; at work; in the habit of moving quickly 积极的,活跃的
    e. g. He’s taking an active part in imagination.

    2. Not only did I lose my joy in answering questions, but also I totally lost my desire to say anything at all in English.
    Note: with “not only “or “only” placed at the beginning of a sentence, the sentence order should be inverted<倒装> as you find it in the reading passage .
    E.g. Only in this way can you hope to finish the work at the end of this month.
    Not only did we enjoy the film, but we also had a wonderful time.

    3. far from: not … at all , rather than 远远不是,不仅不…而且
    e.g. The show was far from< being >a failure ; it was a great success.
    She is far from being pleased about it; she is very angry.
    It is far from perfect.
    That painting is far from finished.
    But I was still far from satisfied.
    4. access: n.
    a. way of entering ; right of using ; reaching ; or entering 进入的道路,进入,通路〈不可数〉
    e.g. Access to the town was across a narrow bridge.
    The only access to that building is along that muddy track.
    There is no access to the house from the main road.
    b. right of reaching/using/speaking to 接触,使用或向… 谈话的权利。
    e.g. Only with officials had access to Saddam Hussein.
    Only a few people have access to the full facts of the case.
    We had access to his private files.
    [Compare] access:接近或进入的方法、机会、权力
    approach 靠近,亦引申为处理一件事开始时的方式
    entrance 进入 加入的动作;也指出入的门或其他开口;或进入某组织的资格
    admission 准许进入或加入,强调结果。
    5. embarrassing &embarrassed:
    e.g. This was an embarrassing situation for the gentleman for he couldn’t afford the dinner.
    It embarrassed her that her husband was drunk at the dinner.
